Fixing the < and § key issue on Logitech keyboards
If you’re reading this, you’re probably just as frustrated as I was when I first encountered this issue. You press the < key on your Logitech keyboard, only to see a § appear on your screen instead. Infuriating, right? Especially when you’re sure that your keyboard is correctly set up, has the right keyboard layout for your language, and all other keys are working exactly as they should. Don’t worry—it’s a simple fix.
Logitech keyboards, particularly those designed for multiple layouts, sometimes mix things up. This issue typically occurs when the keyboard’s firmware defaults to the wrong regional configuration. While it can be confusing at first, the solution is straightforward and takes less than a minute.
The fix
Here’s what you need to do:
- Hold down the Fn + U keys on your Logitech keyboard.
- Wait until the LED on the Easy-Switch 1 button lights up.
- Release the keys. That’s it—your keyboard will now switch to the correct regional configuration, and the < and § keys will behave as they should.
Why this happens
The problem arises because Logitech keyboards are designed to support multiple key mappings across different regions. Sometimes, they get it wrong right out of the box or after a firmware update. By using the Fn + U shortcut, you manually toggle between these configurations.
Hopefully, this quick guide saves you the same headache I went through.
